Try and be true to yourself.

I’m currently working on a suspense novel– hopefully the suspense in my upcoming book will drive the narrative and will keep you the reader interested. Writing suspense is new for me, so I hope I meet your expectations.

In my first book, Beyond the Pale, I tried to explore psychological tension; how do the characters react with one another and how do they find a solution? I really enjoyed exploring the psychological tension when I threw a spanner in the works there, and although there is a sequel I’m really exited for the moment to explore other genres so a sequel will have to wait.

One of my inspirations for my latest book is Agatha Christie; few writers have ever shaped the genre and influenced crime fiction like she has. The British author managed to pen 67 novels over some 50 years. Her plotting was ingenious and even in modern day readers remain captivated by her mysteries.

My erotic fantasy short story started during a stressful time in my life and it has an over-the-top sexual taste. It took the pressure off starting a somewhat daunting task of opening a business on the Costa Blanca and it still makes me laugh today how way back then how my youthful mind was full of hormone induced thoughts! I guess it’s not something I can apologise for as it was part of growing up, maturing, a moment in my life. Shocking I know, who would have thought I could harbour such elaborate fantasises? You’ve just got to be honest with yourself!

I hope you feel confident in the stories you have to tell and never apologise – just write.

All the best,

E.J.
